O fen\u00f4meno foi modelado matematicamente utilizando a teoria da gravita\u00e7\u00e3o newtoniana por Augustus Love, em 1909. Os chamados n\u00fameros de Love caracterizam a deformabilidade de um objeto compacto devido a for\u00e7as de mar\u00e9 externa. A magnitude dos n\u00fameros de Love da Terra est\u00e1 em torno de 0,3. J\u00e1 os n\u00fameros de Love das estrelas de n\u00eautrons foram recentemente limitados por observa\u00e7\u00f5es de ondas gravitacionais registradas pelos detectores do LIGO e est\u00e3o ao redor de 0,1.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><iframe style=\"display: block; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;\" title=\"YouTube video player\" data-src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/H4mZH_IobYc\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB3aWR0aD0iMSIgaGVpZ2h0PSIxIiB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciPjwvc3ZnPg==\" class=\"lazyload\" data-load-mode=\"1\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Estudos usando a teoria da relatividade geral mostraram que um buraco negro sem rota\u00e7\u00e3o n\u00e3o pode ser deformado devido a uma for\u00e7a de mar\u00e9 externa. Seus n\u00fameros de Love s\u00e3o nulos. Todos os buracos negros reais, por\u00e9m, devem possuir alguma rota\u00e7\u00e3o.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMostramos que os buracos negros em rota\u00e7\u00e3o s\u00e3o deformados devido a uma for\u00e7a gravitacional externa devida, por exemplo, ao outro buraco negro de um sistema bin\u00e1rio em espiral\u201d, diz Casals . \u201cEssa deforma\u00e7\u00e3o gravitacional, por\u00e9m, \u00e9 muito pequena. Os n\u00fameros de Love de um buraco negro em rota\u00e7\u00e3o est\u00e3o ao redor de 0,001. N\u00e3o d\u00e1 para observar essa deforma\u00e7\u00e3o com o LIGO.
