{"id":22999,"date":"2024-08-01T14:16:58","date_gmt":"2024-08-01T17:16:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.sbfisica.org.br\/v1\/sbf\/?p=22999"},"modified":"2024-08-01T14:23:57","modified_gmt":"2024-08-01T17:23:57","slug":"coloquio-some-surprising-results-from-the-simba-cosmological-simulations-no-ifusp","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.sbfisica.org.br\/v1\/sbf\/coloquio-some-surprising-results-from-the-simba-cosmological-simulations-no-ifusp\/","title":{"rendered":"Col\u00f3quio &#8220;Some Surprising Results From the Simba Cosmological Simulations&#8221; no IFUSP"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Prof. Romeel Dav\u00e9 oferece o col\u00f3quio &#8220;Some Surprising Results From the Simba Cosmological Simulations&#8221; no IFUSP<\/strong><br>Cosmological simulations of galaxy formation have matured rapidly in the last few years, with recent models combining structure formation, hydrodynamics, stellar and black hole growth, and associated feedback processes to accurately reproduce key demographical properties observed in the galaxy population.&nbsp; But the input physics required to do so can have unexpected consequences in disparate regimes that run counter to conventional notions of how galaxies form and evolve.&nbsp; In this talk I present our Simba simulations, a state-of-the-art suite that uses novel approaches for modeling black hole growth, AGN feedback, and dust to yield a galaxy population that uniquely reproduces some otherwise puzzling observations.&nbsp; I will further discuss how Simba offers some surprising predictions on how galactic feedback processes interact with and impact their larger-scale cosmic ecosystems that could be tested with upcoming galaxy surveys.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sobre o palestrante: O Prof. Romeel Dav\u00e9 fez seu doutorado na Universidade da California Santa Cruz, tendo em seguida sido agraciado com a prestigiosa Hubble Fellowship.
