THE IUPAP YOUNG SCIENTIST PRIZE IN
PLASMA PHYSICS 2008
The International Union of
Pure and Applied Physics (IUPAP) has created the IUPAP Young Scientist
Prize in Plasma Physics aimed at recognizing outstanding achievements of
scientists at early stages of their career in the field of
Plasma
Physics. The award is yearly bestowed
on the occasion of one of the IUPAP sponsored conferences: International
Conference on Phenomena in Ionized Gases (ICPIG) and International
Congress on Plasma Physics (ICPP). At each of these conferences, work is
honoured in the field of plasma research that is typically for that
conference. The prize consists of $ 1000 and a medal. In addition,
the conference fee is waived for the prizewinner. The 2008 award will
be linked to the 14th ICPP to be held in Fukuoka, Japan, from September
8-12 2008 (http://www.triam.kyushu-u.ac.jp/ICPP/), and the recipient should at most have 8 years of post
PhD research on September 1, 2008. He/she should have performed original
work of outstanding scientific quality in the area of the PHYSICS OF
HIGH TEMPERATURE PLASMAS.
Nominations for the 2008 prize
should reach the chair of IUPAP Commission 16 before April 15, 2008.
The nomination can be made by anyone who is not a member of the selection
committee. It should include: - A letter of not more than 1,000 words
